GRP Cleaner

On a budget. ?
Packet of oxcylic acid for the stains. Ebay. £2.50
Pot of Silky from any caravan shop. £6.75.
Ordinary Turtlewax car shampoo bought in bulk quantities. 5L
vs.
A small bottle with exactly the same stuff inside from your favorite chandlery with the words Premium Marine Polish on the label.

Mostly lots of water and a soft brush.
Wash and wax from wherever is cheapest.
Farecla G3 from Ebay.
Car wax for the shiny bits.
Furniture polish from Tesco for mast groove and other minor moving parts.

Good advice. For the teak deck, don’t forget the Aldi version of Patio Magic at a couple of pounds for 2.5l.

Stains along waterline .... Toilet Lime and Rust Remover ... I use Cilit Bang Lime and Rust ... but any such as Domestos etc. will do the job.

General after waterline done : Car Colour Restorer such as T-Cut .... just make sure you wash off fully.

I used to use Diamond Glaze Polish for cars ... but then gave up all that hard work and now the rare occasion I do - I use dual action Car Shampoo with Wax already in !!

OK .. as they say a picture is worth a thousand words :

Getting ready :

Typical waterline ...

Start with the Lime and Rust version :

Working round and we get after about 2hrs .. (boat is 25ft LOA)

Given an overall T-Cut and then shampoo finish :

I don't think that's all that bad ??

Thanks for the info was looking at "marine" items that's what started the tread.

As soon as I see word MARINE in the label ... I put money back in pocket ...

Often you can read the label ... see what's in it ... the warnings about what not to use it on ... those two facts then lead you to domestic items similar ... and change left over for a bottle or two of vino to celebrate the job ..

I use vistal cleaner with excellent results, simply wash down with vistal and than apply 3m wax. Vistal is a clay base cleaner which comes with a sponge, it removes ingrained dirt and stains very effectively.
