Greek Cruising Tax update from the CA

Re: Tepai entry instructions

Hiya Rib,
Am in same boat as you. They have fusterclucked. I tried 3 different browsers, thinking of lazy inept programming, but its not. They cant see their own database connection today!

final submit trueN Edit.js:198:2

Re: Tepai entry instructions

We cleared in at Gouvia today. Everyone really friendly and all in one place. Had done online TEPAI + SEPA payment, which worked except for me pasting in the wrong reference number the first time, so the payment was refunded and I had to do another. Own stupid mistake though.

DEKPA paid at marina office, then taken receipt to port police, who filled out the form and stamped it. The port police officer said lots of trouble with the TEPAI and was super happy that we had paid and printed ours and also had a pre-printed crew list for him to copy. Took all in all less than 15 minutes, not including the queue.

Elena at "Sail the Blue" office (an outpost of the German DSV "Kreuzerabteilung" cruising club) at the corner next to the Port Police office is helping cruisers with filing the TEPAI, as apparently many were unaware or struggled with the online filing. Met an older German couple who were completely lost with it all and told they were not allowed to leave until all paid and stamped. Helped them a bit with the website but they were also getting the "Unexpected Error" message in the end when trying to submit the form.

Thanks Chris for keeping us all so well informed - it seems cruisers from other countries fared much worse and have an additional language barrier on top.

Re: Tepai entry instructions

Hi Rib,
My inlaws are from the village you can see if you look straight up the mountain from argostoli. I might be there doing shuttle run on Tuesday, or not. who knows.
The problem with the site is that its lost the link to the database. Sysadmin wont have noticed until about Monday when they do the standard checks, if they do. ;-) all good fun. :-) am in south Eyvia gulf at moment, wave as you go past!

Re: Tepai entry instructions

Very much looks like network/system problems... really surprised that it is unmonitored as it appears at the week end as this is part of the main taxes system for Greeks to pay and declare their taxes.

It's like the HMRC System being down for the weekend

Re: Tepai entry instructions

Hiya Chris,
its 3 day weekend in Greece this weekend, so it will get seen to as and when.
its pointless trying to compare anything with Greek beaurocracy. its in a class of its own!
;-)
cheers

Indeed, it's Holy Spirit weekend (Pentecost to everyone else).

Greece is a perfect example of why hard socialism doesn't work. Even the New Democracy party (which will probably form the next government here) are in the same mould as the British Labour Party, SYRIZA are very nearly communists. As an example of how centralised socialist principles don't work, the marina here (which is state owned and leased to the municipality) is not permitted to spend more than 500 Euros on ANYTHING without central government approval. The people in central government in Athens of course, either don't know where Agios Nikolaos Marina is, or they don't care, so spending approvals take weeks and months to come through.

A couple of years ago the marina management submitted a plan to move two of the pontoons to fit larger boats in. They had costed it fully and showed that assuming full occupancy (very likely in this marina) the move would pay for itself in two years. Approval should have been a no-brainer, but what came back was a one page letter saying 'please proceed according to the law'. The management could't be certain that was approval to do the work, and had they been wrong they'd have been personally liable for the cost, so the plans had to be re-submitted. AFAIK approval has still not be given....

Re: Tepai entry instructions

I have just read the RYA mag which has about 6 lines announcing the new tax. It tells us nothing we didn't know a month ago. Their website still has the Dec 2017 position!

I tried to get them involved to help in the publicity and shared a lot of info with them. What did they do? F* all

No wonder the AADE lot only had 2 and 6 pence for their computer system and software.

Twice I have tried to get them to update their anchor information, which has no mention of any new generation anchors, shows Bruce and CQR. Never had a reply.
