It is possible that there will be a forced Bank Holiday tomorrow. If the ECB does not help by putting funds into the Greek banks.

It would be prudent to get as much as possible out of the ATM's while you can. Cash is king.

Currently near Corfu, local people told us that tomorrow would be a bank holiday. Restaurant at lunchtime were not prepared to accept payment by card, one of the two cash machines worked. Talking to fellow cruisers it seems that most of us have, sensibly, made provisions. Everyone seems very calm so far.

BBC news flash , banks in Greece will be shut to morrow ,
All the more reason to chill out, have a swim followed by a nice lunch, on the other hand, you could stress out and have a mild heart attack, I think the lunch wins.

Be very careful - read in a German newspaper earlier that the Greeks are thinking of implementing exit controls.
You would not be allowed to take more than 1000€ in cash out of the country.

IIRC, a similar measure was in place in Cyprus for a while when they were teetering on the brink.

Sounds like the banks are to be closed for a week, and max ATM withdrawal will be €60.

The €60/day limit is only for Greek-issued cards - foreign issued cards will have no such limit (though local banks might impose their own).
The "Bank Holiday" is until after the referendum on the troika "offer" which has now been taken off the table. The referendum is on the 6th July, so banks will be closed until the 7th, presumably.
All-in-all total negotiating incompetence on the part of both sides - it's in no-one's interest to have an "OK Corral" incident.
Once again the Greek people will suffer (though I haven't noticed it on my way down from Thassos to Elafonisis, where they appear to be getting rid of their €s as quickly as possible).

This maximum only applies to Greek bank accounts. We have been informed by the bank that tourists and those with cards from foreign banks will not be subject to this limit, although their own bank may have a maximum daily limit on overseas withdrawals. It is a bank holiday today but ATMs will be refilled and be open from 2pm.

Oops, I see Charles had already posted this. I'm a bit dozy today. There is also plenty of fuel for those who were worried about that and the good news is that tomorrow's ferry strike has now been called off!

We ok Turkish back are open as normal . :)

At some ATMs in Turkey you can choose to have Euros or Turkish lira. I know the ATM near the shopping centre in Didim marina does this also the banks and ATMs in Turgetries. No doubt there are many more along the coastal strip.
In mentioning this I'm not suggesting any course of action that would make such a facility available to those cruising the Greek islands of the Aegean.

With Greek Banks closed possibly for much more than 1 week, how will tourists use a credit card,if the Taverna owners, fuel suppliers, refuse to accept them at all, in an effort to avoid revealing turnover ,as per usual?

From what I understand, there is no limit to the amount you can spend on card purchases - only on the amount of cash you can withdraw.
