Great pubs to sail to in Kent, Essex, and Suffolk

For those with a taste for the odd, there is always the Railway Tavern in Brightlingsea. I haven't been there for a few years but it seems to be still going. It used to do its own beer but I think not now, but local beers and local atmosphere. No food but you can bring your own.

The best food I've had out lately was not close to water unfortunately. The Jubilee on the old Ipswich road north of Colchester was where we were taken for a birthday lunch. The place was full mid-week and there was an excellent menu, basically pub food. There were a dozen of us and I noticed that every plate was cleared.

Snape Maltings News: for the intrepid and daring amongst you the large hulk of an accommodation barge is departing (or has departed) from the quayside at The Maltings. Also I believe the trip-boat is no longer running. This leaves a lot of room to tie-up, have a beer, shop and take in a concert.
The marvellous wooden barge Cygnet still has its place and long may that remain so.

Yes, the Ondermering went last week, not without some difficulty. I believe she has gone to Lowestoft for 'some maintenance'. Hopefully she will not return. There is loads of space there now alongside, plus a large indent in the mud where the large barge was berthed.
Not sure about the trip boat. Cygnet is still there but appears to have been laid up. Her sprit in on the deck, the sails have been removed and the mizzen is down. Will see if I can find more info from my Snape connections...

Cygnet is also off for maintenance, St Osyth I believe. So an empty quay, for a while.
 
Sadly Ondermering has returned from Lowestoft and is back alongside the quay at Snape Maltings. However, she is now moored further down, near the trip boat, which seems to be operating again.
So there is a fairly large empty space available but it comes with an Ondermering size hole in the mud.
Cygnet is still alongside near the bridge.

+1 for the Ship - dog friendly, too. I haven't tried the dinghy route - I'm berthed at Titchmarsh, so I have my car available! But a warning - I think Kirby Creek dries completely at low water.

When you say the "staithe" do you mean the landing just SW of Honey Island? That's what I use when anchored in Kirby Creek and about 2 miles to the Ship on foot and there is water there for at least 4hrs either side of HW for a tender. Is there still water at the landing at LW?

No issues getting ashore at the public slipway but Holehaven is full of fishing boats these days & there are no visitors moorings.
As to leaving anything like an outboard on a dinghy, i wouldnt as the local yoof will have it away in short order.
The pub is okay but eyewateringly high beer prices.
