just bought garmin fixed gps model 162 in states,and have just had it installed.
has anybody any experience of this unit's accuracy/reliability etc.

Garmin... they should re-name their products 'excellence' they are excellent in every respect right down to back up services. I wouldn't have anything else.

I've had Garmin and Magellan and I can say that I have been happy with both ...... why did I change ? Each was with a different boat when I bought boat and they went with the boat when sold ! I now use an ancient Magellan that I had sitting in a drawer ..... friends ask me why I don't get a modern 12 sat job etc. Why ? It works, maybe slow to log on, but once on its spot on as any of the others I have had .... especially now that SA is off !!
Anyway what you have is a solid and good buy.
