I like the decluttering you can achieve by setting it up correctly. I want to see significant features like navigational bouys at any zoom level. I only want to see detailed features when I zoom in. You can choose which features you want to see at what zoom level with most plotters and software.
At the end of the day, it's a personal preference thing, and people use what they are comfortable with. Me, I vector best....having said that, I wouldn't be without my paper charts within reach whilst on the boat.
I also disagree with some of the comments about screen sizes. I use a Garmin 176c as my plotter on the boat, and the screen though small is great, and it's ideal as I can't fit a bigger screen at the helm.
