GP14 Seats/Brackets

GP14 Side Benches

The supporting knees for GP14 side benches were normally simple timber affairs. They are fastened alongside the hull's framing, forward - adjacent to the chainplates and aft - the frame that is in way of the back of the centreboard housing. The top of the knees to have the same height as the top face of the centre thwart. The seat slats are roughly 3" sided by 3/4" deep - one pair each side fastened down to the centre thwart and given a sweep to match the curvature of the cockpit coaming.

Note that the GP14's build rules have changed over the years and I think that a single side bench slat may be allowable now. Try a search for GP14 rules or plans. The class is very well administered for UK and Ireland and info about the boat is plentiful. Alternatively, a good option is to find another boat locally to go and have a look at and run the tape measure over...

Hope that this helps.
