Was a quiet part of the thames so speed limit didnt matter as no one else around. Nice to clean the cobwebs out :D

if you really mean that about the speed limit, then no-one else was disturbed apart from the birds and the animals quietly going about their normal daily routine, and the rather fragile ecosystem and the geophysical structure of the banks, and the noise, and ...

Is that seriously a good example to set to the boys ?

No-one minds speed in the right place.

This post reminds me of the guy who posted a picture on the VX2220 forum showing him breaking the speed limit then wondered why the authorities came banging on his door. There's certainly enough evidence here for action to be taken.

None of us are above pushing our luck from time to time but posting that on an open forum is stupid.

Just my opinion.

Know where you are coming from and also know your boat will make less wash on the plane than it does at 6 knots.
It's all about damage limitation and not causing disturbance or inconvenience to others.

I often turn a blind eye and give a cheery wave to other small boats who I see speeding (safely) on the river in such circumstances, however it is different if other boats are cruising / moored up in the area.

A 40 footer in the same circumstances will probably produce a 6 foot wake and this is why the speed limit is in force.

As said I know your wake is a foot high at speed and 18 inches at 6 knots and there is no harm in it, however I trust that the photo is an archive pic that was taken on a stretch of water with no speed limit in force?
Might be better to clear up that point smartish. :D

...and this is news?

See this every weekend at Henley.

Can't you go any faster?

Slipper launches would leave you standing especially "Morning Glory"

That just shows that everyone believes everything they see and read on the Internet.

Thats my boat and my son and we are quite well known on the Thames and also know and respect the Thames.

"Warpa", who clearly posted the picture to wind you up, pinched the picture from this thread...

If you take your time to read the thread you will see that I was doing "Warpa" a favour by pointing out where exactly you can open up a boat (a lake just south of Eversley).

Its a bit like me saying " here we are on the run out of Henley, to Temple"

Really, how do you come to that conclusion from above responses?

Ok nobody mentioned "troll" but all responses were obviously playing along.

I think you shot yourself in the foot there and you ended up being the victim of your own joke.
Your last post is like a dodgy comedian having to explain his joke, oh dear!
