Hi

I'm sure someone can help me. I need to change my anode on my volvo saildrive this year. I have got the new anode but a bit reluctant to try to remove the prop myself in case it goes wrong!

Does anyone know anyone who they would recommend in the area who would do it for a good price and wouldnt mind me watching over their shoulder!? If I am supplying the anode how long should it take? i.e how much should people be charging me!?

Many Thanks

Richard

I have removed the volvo saildrive prop without any problems, just use an allen key, with ring spanner to provide leverage, put the drive into gear, sharp tap with a hammer, and its off; replace anode, and prop, tighten up; its done.

It's not a major job. Should be able to do it in half a hour. You may need someone with a puller to get the prop off though. It will either slide off or it will be solid on the shaft. The ring anode is held into place with only two screws so is only a five min job to change. If you are changing the anode may be an idea to change the oil in the saildrive too, just open the breather and undo the sump plug at the bottom.

Is your boat out of the water at the moment ?

Have a chat to Chris Haddock at Gosport boat yard. one of his lads should oversee it for you.

You cant go too wrong doing it yourself.

Hi Thanks for the messages.. The boat will be in Gosport Boatyard as I have a mooring with them so I will try to do it myself when one of the lads are around in case I need the prop puller. Will speak to Chris.
