Gooseneck reefing setup ideas

I am sure you are quite right! I’ve not experienced that situation. But I know my ‘spectacles and ramshorns’ are far from desirable. ?
You need to go to the mast, but you can pretty much deal with putting a spectacle on a ram's horn with one hand, leaving one to hang on with.

It's easier to do if you use Dyneema without cover as I did in my picture, found another video that might be easier to follow, there they show a trick with a lanyard to

If the total length is to short to do the tail buries end to end you can overlap the tapers.
It's easy to do this splice in "naked" Dyneema using Selma fids or simmilar, you don't need that special fid they use in the video. (A rigger i know make same kind of tool from the core of old rigging wire)
