Good thoughts please and prayrs to the weather gods...

Tis called Pagan after all. Anyone else remember the after shave called "Pagan Man"? Made Brut seem like a subtle waft.

Many a wild night has been had in Pompy too im told :)

Usually we started off at the Ship Ansom (right outside the dockyard), then a walk to The Mucky Duck (don't recall the real name of the place) followed by a taxi to Southsea to find a ladyfriend for the night.
Wake up in the morning - panick - try to find your bearings - rush back in the idle hope to be back in time for parade.
Repeat ad infinitum.
Happy days.

When I was a Purser Lad on the IoW ferries (lamp swinging here), at cease work, the below decks crew encamped in the Ship Ansom and then onto the Leopard and then God knows where..... Then the Ferry back to Gosport, if I could find it :) ..... Best job I ever had, for a summer in '63 I think

As those sad people with nothing better to do than stare at Marine Traffic all day (that is an inclusive statement 'cos if I'm not busy I do too!) have already surmised, we decided to go for a gentle little motor down the Solent

Motor because I wasn't risking a rig failure until I've had time to sort out one or two odds and ends that either I or the surveyor wasn't 100% happy with

It was a bit brisk, to say the least! But the boat handled it well and the crew coped.

It's put a few miles in the bag which is handy and given the engine a good test. We're not getting as much oompf as I'd expect from a 42hp engine and what's more the engine seems to be revving quite freely which makes me wonder if the pitch might not be set a bit fine on the feathering prop. Sufficient unto another day.

Nothing broke, nothing fell off and it actually wasn't all that unpleasant!

We'll see what tomorrow brings.

I remember the dirty duck or Black Swan in Stratford Upon Avon, the most camp place I've ever come across.

Going back to our hero....
He has moved .. and now in Gosport..

I feel like my life's on hold, I can't seem to settle to any task, I snap at the kids and I'm not sleeping right. Will he make it to Chichester by month's end do you think?
