When measuring length, do I measure the total length of the screw (including the head) or just the length of the threaded part?

Conventionally, for countersunk fasteners it's total length. Hex, round head etc., measure from underside of the head.

I've used an eBay shop called Aruncas for a few years. Exceptionally good pricing, for good qualkity stainless fasteners. Be careful to choose the grade you need though, there's a mix of A2 and A4, but all listed as what they are.

I just removed some stainless machine screws A2 grade from the stanchions on our boat, after one season they are heavily corroded. Probably wouldnt last much longer than zinc plated steel. Wont be buying generic stainless from the chandlers again!

I use Ebay jclarkemarine for A4/316 grade , free postage and have been happy with the quality
A2/304 is no good
