After reading the new reg's it seems you don't have to notify the Border Force for a trip to the Channel Isles, but you do need to fill in a C1331, which is sent to Border control, so you can contact HMRC on your return trip. Have I understood this correctly?

We did just that earlier this month.

Sent in the eC1331 going out and coming back (twice: once before leaving, once after arriving). Then they told us we had to wait for the Border Force to OK us... when I called the Border Force (after waiting some time), they confirmed that from the CI we did NOT need their "Blessing", but that the Customs Declaration was what we had to do.

All rather tedious, if you ask me. A waste of money (I suppose the good side is that it keeps someone in gainful employment)

So I read that right, but you still need to end off a C1331.

C1331 is deprecated and going out of use later this year. The website/app is the new way - although it's still in Beta and getting quite a few complaints.

A couple of days ago I rang Yachtline ( as instructed online) while still 11 miles off and out of range for the data connection for the emailed C1331. The Very Nice Lady took all my details, asked me to send the C1331 once in signal, then cleared us to remove the Q flag. It was late mind.

Almost as easy as the CI's system and actually better than the French one, once the port codes had been found.

She did mention the online system but only in passing.

The online system is really good. You can store all the boat and crew details and then just add them to the passage info for each trip.

Unless you're a delivery skipper, as you can't put one way journeys in. Nor can you do a crew changeover whilst abroad. Nor is it any good for situations where GDPR means the skipper shouldn't be storing that information.

They've rolled out the Beta without testing it on actual users.

I don't understand.. Each plan is a one way journey.
You are able to specify different crew lists for each submitted journey.

Not when I last tried, it would only let you submit a return journey with the same crew. Yachtline did say I was about the 1000th person that week ringing to point that out.
