Going To The Boat Show ?

To be honest, if you don't want to do a simple test which is free and only takes a couple of minutes, don't go. I'm happy for you not to go. I'm happier to go knowing that there is probably less chance of the virus being transmitted to me. There is still a risk and there will always be a risk, you only have to look at any event where there is a crowd , music festivals, football etc, and there are spikes. I am happy that SIB are doing what they can to stop the spread.
As the man at Tesco said "Every little helps".

The test is not required, just evidence you entered a negative result in an app. If you don't believe in vaccination, stay at home. I do believe in vaccination, but not in pointless and extremely expensive bureacracy that produces hundreds of tons of single use plastic waste and results in increased taxation for no apparent benefit.

I have to say I haven’t given a second’s thought to the LFT. Far more persuasive for me is the annual gathering of boaty mates, a good gander at things we can‘t afford (and some we can that we don‘t need), a couple of cheeky tipples and then a debrief over dinner in the evening with said boaty mates. £21 or whatever it is (this year it’ll cost us nothing courtesy of the broker we bought our boat from) isn’t too steep either in m view. If you’re going - see you there. If you‘re not, enjoy whatever you do. Simples.

To summarise the OP’s question: “yes”.

Vaccinated people can still pick up the virus and can still carry it. Although the symptoms are far less drastic, I wouldn't like to pass it on to my mum or anyone else that is vulnerable..
As for not doing the test and lying to present evidence then that's another topic and says a lot about the sort of person they are.

Yes, same for flu, and very similar simptoms. I say again, if YOU are worried YOU stay home.

It’s similar at the Cannes boat show, where I am right now. Here though they have COVID vaccination passports, which you have to present to get into the show and to eat in a restaurant even. It’s all bollox. A tick box exercise. As soon as you pass security, everyone rips off their masks and carries on. I shook the hands of half a dozen people. Lots of conversations in unventilated spaces. As ever the authorities are lagging the wishes of the people. There are lots of anti vaccination passport demos. I’m with them.

I hope you get home alive.

Did anyone go today? Was it busy compared to the Friday last year?

Got my tickets and a pocket full of cash, can't wait until tomorrow!

I wasn’t expecting to be taken literally. ?

..although I do have cash in my wallet that’s been there for 18 months.

All was fine thanks, as I expected. I tested negative on the PCR test. Given exposure to all the thousands of people I came into very close proximity of. In closed off boat hulls, in trains, planes, buses, restaurants if I was going to get it then I'd have got it. I'm sure with the double vaccine and the acquired immunity from a year and a half of regular low level exposures to the virus that I, like most people have an extremely high level of immunity now.
