Hi, I am new to YBW. My name is Robert and I retired to the Algarve from the UK 2 years ago. I have sold my Karnic SL702 and have been looking for a larger open boat. We have family numbering 6 here and with friends need space for up to 10 for day cruises. I have viewed a few boats now, including a scruffy Fairline Targa 34, but today viewed a 2000 Gobbi 335SC. It really appealed to me with its large open spacious cockpit and large lounge area below decks. It’s slightly old fashioned in its design, inevitably, but it feels really solid like it’s made of thicker fibre glass than more modern boats.
I realise that Gobbi may not be very well known the UK, but was wondering it anybody has any experience, positive or negative.
It’s been a freshwater boat until June this year, has been cosmetically restored/updated below decks and has all new cushions and seating above. Also has all new helm equipment and a new Isotta wheel. At idle the engines are quiet and running very sweetly. They and the drives were fully serviced in June.
The gel coat I would describe as cream rather than white and has a m att finish rather then gloss. Is this age, or was that the way in the late 90s. I see a lot of Cranchis with similar colouring and finish here. Can the gel cost be polished to gloss?
Next week we will do a sea trial and out if the water hull and transom inspection.
Very tempted
