Glueing Headlining?

The 5mm does leave a few ridges. I would try and stick it instantly, otherwise it loses some of its stickiness. I used a longish ruler and brushed it along the surface and it didn't leave any creases.

As others have intimated there is a possibility that this will get to be a bigger problem, if not now but in a year or two. I have just had to strip the lot off, and replace 26m of 1.5m width!.
The aim must be to ensure that you have clean areas to glue to with no bits of extraneous stuff[ old glue, insects, dust, old foam etc. Needs not just a hole to suck it out but also a chance to scrape etc.
You can try inserting a nozzle of canned glue but I would bet that you'll be back in a year's time to do it properly, the bodge will attract your eye until you do.

Sorry = hard fact of life, I know, this is the second of my yachts that suffered, and the job is an absolute pig to do.

To ensure decent contact I used not only sail battens but also 4" thick foam to give an even pressure without pressing too hard. I even used a large buoyancy bag on the ceiling bit.
