Does anyone have a Glomex Vega TV antenna installed? Is is any good or is it worth the extra £ for the ones with amplifier etc..

Would be looking at a masthead installation. Many thanks.

SimonP85,

Hi, I can't help with the quality of reception from the Glomex Vega except to say that all omnidirectional antenna are a compromise on performance.

The glomex Vega does have a built-in amplifier that requires a 12v supply.
Cheapest I have found is on ebay. (at that price it may be worth a punt)

It is the model V9114 and a little more on the specification is here.

I hope this helps.

Here is what the inside of a Glomex looks like. A loop of wire and a tuned amplifier. Not a lot for the money!!!:(

Agree that it looks like a complete rip off, but what's the alternative, other than make it yourself.

I couldn't find an omni- directional aerial for less than about £80 or so.

I had a Triax- Omni on Rogue, and it worked fine all over The Med to Malta at the top of a 45ft mast. I've got a house aerial on the narrowboat about 6ft above the water, so I can point it as appropriate :)

Hmm certainly rather scary to see what's inside! I guess the "marine suitable" plastic outer housing makes up for the remaining £99 from an E100 aerial!

I just want something that I can stick at the masthead to provide a decent signal in the Solent
