And we ned a few stupid peopel to do gardening and so on.

Do you ever stop to think whether or not what you are about to say in a post just might be very offensive to someone? Then you have the temerity to moan when someone says hey! that aint nice! I would love to see your definition of stupid people? However, I suspect all I will get is abuse, so don't bother.

Re: IQ tests

Are you a gardener by chance? My apologies.

I was doing some gardening this morning, rainy and blowy - I was trying to move leaves but gave up. I suppose i just unthinkingly used "gardener" as an exmaple of something i probably wouldn't want to do (not today anyway) and an activity that many boaty types try to avoid.

However, the initial post itself rather relies on being spectacularly unpleasant to most of the world's population. It wasn't intended to be "nice" - it was intended to be amusing in offering mass genocide as a solution to climate change. I suppose it also mocked the feeble government action with regard to climate change too. It was black humour - using two issues which might usually be seen as almost diametrically political opposites, brought together with one being offered as a solution to the other.

I would have thought this fairly obvious, though? My use of brightly innocent text in proposing to eliminate 5 billion people was but one of many clues.

You asked about my definition of stupid. Fair enough. It doesn't necessarily mean someone is stupid in not recognising the joke. Nor does it mean they are stupid to attack the typograpgical errors I made. However, pursuing the issue and needlessly defending those who work in the horticultural industry - i'm afraid that makes it all a lot more borderline, really.

Re: IQ tests

so, I dont get it. Blimmin horticulturalists?
Are gardeners in or out of the 5 billion as a group?
I mean we will need gardeners to trim our roof grass and that on post apocalyptic council estate housing. Will they be granted neutron exzemption? Though I spect we could train up a load of other peeps who will be out of work when the population realignment event is complete?
I was digging out my dog eared copy of Protect and Survive and whitewashing the kitchen table.
So, with this very serious issue, what vintage of Bordeaux should I be laying down in the Anderson shelter?

Gardeners

F10 above objected to the throwaway comment about gardeners.

To be clear, gardeners and everyone *inside* the safety zone will be ok, but *outside* the safety zone in Asia Africa and America etc, well, they won't be ok.

Stability approaching?

Interesting site from US Census Bureau seems to show that pop growth might cease shortly after 2050. It would be less disruptive to pull forward that date by measures such as cancelling medical research except into birth control and euthanasia, breeding mosquitoes, introducing the big cats to the delicious flavour of human beans, banning lifejackets and harnesses, encouraging dangerous sports and dismantling the health and safety industry. That way, no need for mushroom clouds, and tcm can keep his 9.5 litre Austin Allegro Special.

that some members of this forum have failed to quite grasp the subtlety of your searing Swiftian satire.

I think the suggestion was, and maybe still is dependent upon the appropriate IQ index, that the literary analogy should have been Orwellian ... or maybe Milliganian, cos there is no such word as TCMian. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: I WANT Climate Change

I WANT Climate change cos' I have just invested heavily in Beach Front property on the North Greenland coast. (to be renamed "Sunshine Land").

My vote is that Global Warming is from the Sun. All we need to do is wait until nightime and we'll be ok. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The Nazi stuff is quite an interesting demonstration of how history gets written to suit those in power. Didn't the Times recently have an article which mentioned that Hitler won the vote in the Reichstag to get his initial powers ONLY because he was supported by the political party (I forget the name!) that was based on the Catholic vote..........I don't recall the article getting challenged.

What many folk do not seem to realise that in the Human timescale it is not "normal" that you can get prewashed, precut and premixed bags of Salad from 15 different countries at 3am or 24/7 - things are usually a lot harder, and folk fought (and thought) to get things how they are - they weren't given, - they were taken, otherwise 3/4's of us (including those now with 60 foot+ mobos) would still be shovelling sh#t. "and glad of it" /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif.....

..........Even without the explosion in the worldwide population of Morons, things would get worse anyway, that's "normal" - maybe it will be Global Warming, maybe an Ayatollah Nutjob, the next President halfwit or some tw#t in a Financial Institution no one has ever heard of with a Fat finger that starts events that remind people that you cannot eat £1 coins (or Armani) - but you can eat by being willing and able to begger thy neighbour - in the street or house next door, let alone in a far off land.

Either that or it will all be ok /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
