Greetings from Sweden! My name is Erik and I have some issues with my boat. I would be really grateful if someone could help me!
Sometimes when I turn the key to fire up the engine nothing happens, not even the warning-beep sounds. But if I try a few times it suddenly works just the way it should. My (not so qualified guess) is that there must be some sort of glitch or some sort of corrosion in the ignition. Does anybody have an idea where and how I should start troubleshooting? It is an -94 OMC ignition/throttle controller and the engine is a -93 Johnson 70.
Second question. About two years back the oilpump failed and the pistons "jammed" the cylinders. After the engine was fixed we decided not to get a new oilpump but to mix the fuel/oil in the tank ourselves, but now the beeper has started to alarm with one single beep every minute (or so). If I don't remember all wrong I found out somewhere that this was the failcode for oilpump-failiure (and that would make sense, even though we never got any failcodes when we needed them). But since the problem is solved, is there any way to disconnect the beeper or in some other way shut it up? What would you recommend me to do?
Like I said, I would be really grateful if someone out there could help me with this and I hope my english is comprehensible!
Have a nice day! // Erik
