Hi
When checking my engine coolant level the whole cap attachment came away from the engine water cover. It seems that it is held in place by some sort of adhesive. The base has a lip and seems to be a push fit? Is that correct if so how and with what is it put back on. Should say this is on an VP MD22L
Thanks

And the engine is? Usually that cap assembly is soldered in, depends on the make and model. I suppose it could be refitted with an epoxy adhesive if the fitting and tank orifice is cleaned up properly.

I had the same thing on the expansion tank of my isuzu c240 diesel. Nothing I could do would provide enough heat to solder or braise the fitting. The aluminum is to big a heat sink.
I finally did a very careful clean and prep, the used jb weld to bond the fitting.
It has been holding well for 3 years.
If it lets go again I'll go with a threaded neck from an auto hot rod shop.
You could try one of those metal epoxy glues but I would have expected it to be soldered or braised on

Adhesive? That will be a previous bodged repair that has now failed.
