...with air con.
What a lovely weekend.
We often seem to be going the other way to the bulk of the traffic on the Hamble. Grabbed a quick picture of the hulk half way up the river. Would be interested to know what the story behind this wreck if anyone knows more?
A short trip round to Portsmouth. Son's new girlfriend had to concentrate to try and keep a straight course, wake shot shows the wavey course for FARSCO and others who feel short changed without one.
Pics of the RN ships from the ferry to Gunwharf. A135 Argus, F234 Iron Duke. Not sure which sub it is.
The lettering on the transom is in stainless, though it doesn't look it in the photo. I think it matches the Princess logo quite well.
We got a berth free overnight at Gosport, thank you Premier. Note however Mr Berthing Master that there is a clue in the name. A Princess V48 is more than 40ft long, which is the size of the pontoon he allocated. Having suggested portside to, bows in, I found myself 8ft short of being able to step off the back.
Ran the air-con and not for the first time. I reckon I only need an excuse to use the pasarelle and what was once thought of as "med-spec" could become "Gosport-spec" by 2012.
To Brighton on Saturday morning at a fair lick as conditions were excellent, other than small banks of fog rolling by, which we managed to avoid.
Refuelled for £1,000, for roughly the same amount of diesel as was £700'ish in Jersey.
I'm pleased with the range of the V48 with the D9's. We last filled up in Jersey two weeks ago. We did Jersey to Cherbourg, Cherbourg to Swanwick, Swanwich to Portsmouth, Portsmouth to Brighton before refilling and she took about 1,100 litres (out of a total of 1,800 litres). Don't have the logbook to hand for the details, but we have averaged around 0.8 mpg over the last few months, cruising at 24-30 knts.
We'd only just got on our berth when it closed in at Brighton and the rest of the afternoon was foggy, with horns going every few minutes.
Run back today was a bit bumpy, no more than 20knts most of the way, until we got into the Solent when we could open up again. The F3 to F4 forecast seemed a bit optimistic, though they did say "F5 at times".
May be just us, but I have to say this summer so far has been pretty much perfect for boating. Long may it last.
