LlLeft GJW after 15 years with them premium rose from £180 pa to over £215. Despite having a survey this year as well.
Used Visicover and get a better more tailored policy for £160.

Thanks to PaulRainbow I rang Porthcawl insurance and very pleased with their service and saved over 100 pounds on N andG renewal premium. Nav and Gen wanted an insurance survey before 2026 renewal but Porthcawl said not until the boat is 30 years old.Odd, when we went with them the survey had to be within 5 years.

Thanks for the advice @PaulRainbow
I rang GJW with my renewal and pressed the option that I was planning to leave GJW. Spoke to an adviser and basically got it back to last year's price. Worth a phone call.Ironic that only yesterday I gave a five star recommendation (as requested by GJW) and today I received my renewal notification-
It was £352.47 last year and this year with no changes or claims £502.51.
I think I'll be on the phone shopping around today!
Check the policy carefully as my renewal contained additional exclusions that were not highlighted.Had my N&G renewal via Topsail, up from £520 to £635, virtually 10% of overall value including tender, outboard etc. Shopping around at the moment but very few will cover UK boat on EU swing mooring.
Car insurance came through yesterday, was £685, now £448 !!!I had a shock when my bike insurance renewal came through, it's gone down by £11!
That makes a bloody change.

That was Carole Nash.Who with please? I have to insure my brompton e bike soon for PL on roads theft away from home etc
When getting quotes you might want to take account that john Lewis added it to my home insurance for £11-0
If insuring your home & bike the 2 together may be cheaper.
I imagine a few forumites take ebikes on their boats & need to consider taking out insurance if cycling abroad.
Most home insurance policies do not cover Ebikes without an endorsement. Bike insurance can be expensive
Because most people are lazy, and so they can be ripped off.House insurance renewal just come in with 40% increase - no claims made. Bye bye AXA! Aviva will do the same level of cover for just over half the price. Why do they play this stupid game?
It must be 10 years since last survey then, that's their requirement.
Worth checking with Porthcawl, as they don't require a survey on boats less than 30 years old.Out of the blue email from GJW asking for a Survery before renewal ... Seems I now need to pay for a survey sothat they can assess the risk and hence save money at my cost... unless of course the survey is less than the discount they will invariably give me for such a fine vessel and sailor
Oh and the FAQ link in the email does not work ...
I will be ringing around.
