I have just recieved my insurance renewal from GJW, I have had no claims in the previous year but my No Claims Bonus has remained at 20%. Is this the cap on No Claims Bonus by this company or does it go higher.
20% is the normal maximum. However the discount is in a sense irrelevant. The only thing that matters is the premium in relation to the cover. If you think you are paying too much, get alternate quotes and compare. If they are lower for the same cover then go back to your existing insurer before you switch.
Some companies also give additional NCB discounts for RYA membership and qualifications eg Yachtmaster so make sure you tell your insurance co about anything like this
Re the matter of no claims bonus and GJW insurance - as has been said, the premium is only relevant to the level of cover.
Before renewing any policy check:
* Does the company you pay the premium to act for you - the policy holder - or the policy underwriters? Do read the very small print right the way through to the end and check who the claim handler will be working for in the event that you make a claim.
* Check whether you can expect curteous correspondence and a helpful approach rather than a curt rebuttal if you make a 'contentious' claim.
* Make sure your policy is All Risk - not one where the Risks are subject to named Perils
New Years' Resolutions:
No. 1 Read the small print over and over again...we will in future! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
