Getting into Ryde IOW

Hi

I wonder if any locals could help me? What depth of tide do i need to get my 5'6" draft into Ryde Harbour?

Hoping to go over this weekend.

5' 6'' sounds like a fin keel. Are you able/willing to dry out against the wall.
Harbour dries about 2.3 metres so you would only get in at the very top of the tide. (maybe not at all on neaps)

Hmm. From the look of the tide gauge, it doesn't get much deeper than 5 ft:

Could be tricky. Might be worth ringing the Harbourmaster?

we draw 5'7" and have been in (and out!) so there is enough water sometimes - really helpful harbour staff so best give them a call and go in gently - nice place to visit especially with children for the beach although facilities rather basic,

if you are planning to scrub ask HM for best spot as bottom has on some visits been very very soft mud and easy to lose your wellies!

Yes we are a fin and yes we are prepared to dry out on the wall - we do it on a few weekends each season. Its a neat place to scrub, takes under an hour to get there from our mooring in Gosport and the children love it.

I was just being lazy as I couldn't remember if a 4.3 (Sunday's tide) was deep enough....I will ring the harbour master in the morning and see what he says.

I asked here coz I know that one or two users are very familar with the harbour and I thought they might know.

you'll get in on sat, sun, mondays tides.... Top of.
But it's Ryde regatta and very crowded... and you may not get a spot against the wall.

Thanks...didn't realize it was the regatta till we got iin, about 45 mins before high water with about half a meter under the keel.

We found a spot on the wall, we like to go fairly close to the entrance and have always managed to find a spot. Lots of people don't want to walk that far!

As always we had a great weekend.if a little noisy at times...and the fireworks were a bonus.

Oh and JHR (or was it JRH? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif) I think the tide guage is marked in meters rather than feet.....
