German PV panels

PV panel

It is hard to make any useful comment. Price versus quality is a consideration. Physical size might reflect efficiency although I don't think this varies much. The Chinese do solar panels at a good price. I have fitted a stack of Chines on the roof of my house 1500 watts worth so I hope the quality (long life)lives up to my hopes. In the meantime the panels do churn out the current.
On my boat however cheap panels have disappointed as they don't seem to last many years do to moisture ingress and corrosion.
When you get the panel have a look inside the connector box. This might have a diode fitted. If it does have then you can fit another diode so that the panel can feed 2 separate batteries. (no regulator). Or 2 separate regulators. Fit the anode to the panel output and the cathode to a wire to the battery just like the existing diode and wire.Common negative. good luck olewill

Hi All,

I work for a PV supplier,

The key points are to choose a panel with an Aluminium frame and idealy a Monocrystaline cell as these are more efficient but sadley cost more as well.

Other than that buy the system that will give you the required power for you needs v your budget.

Regards

Jurgen

Mocrystaline cells are more efficient, but take up more space due to their shape. The overall efficiency of Mono and Poly for the total panel tends to be very much the same.(Amorphous panels are much lower)
Its easy to compare the efficiency of different panels, just divide the watts by the total surface area. The reputable brands tend to be very honest in the output figures, but some of the cheaper brands tend to exaggerate slightly. The cheaper panels also tend to fit less bypass diodes which can reduce the shade performance slightly, but the difference in output between the good and cheap panels is only small.

Mono crystalline have an efficiency of about 14.5% you can get 19% with a hybrid mono crystaline (see Sanyo website). Having said that its Watts/£ that counts assuming you have enough space

Looks like a German company selling Chinese panels that are European approved. The sticker, regulator and even the holes in the aluminium frame look like mine. The wording in the eBay ad for mine was for Chinese made panels built to German specifications. Locally the BP panels are supposed to be the quality items but they look look they come from the same factory as well.
