Generator in a Rodman 1250?

Not the same boat but another Rodman, a 38 - my Paguro gennie is at the back of the lazarette next to the port fresh water tank.
It is sitting on a plywood shelf glassed in as per other large fixtures in the boat. The exhaust goes into a water cooled silencer below the gennie and out the transom a few inches above the waterline. Battery power comes from the port main batteries. I am pretty sure mine was fitted by Rodman. If you want I can take a few pics so you can see how they did it.

Photos would be really useful please.

Some pics of my generator installation - and yes that really is a hose pipe connection! It's a temporary thing.

Water trap/anti syphon, then the exhaust goes out the transom

You can’t run an underwater exhaust on a generator as the exhaust back pressure is to high. You can fit an exhaust gas water separator and this would quieten the exhaust at anchor.

K, would you care to explain to the panel why you have a garden hose attachment on your generator ?‍♂️

The hose pipe connector is there so that I can plug a hose pipe with fresh water into the cooling system and rinse out any salt water before I leave it for long periods.
The cooling system on the single cyclinder engine is a bit carp and easily blocks with rust etc. I pretty much never use my generator so I leave the sea cock closed unless it is in use. I have been trying to find something a bit more suitable but to be honest the hose pipe coupling won't corrode and it is not under pressure. Any better ideas gratefully received.

In my experience garden hose connections are prone to failure except for Gardena. They are a good brand

When fitting a generator the overhead height is important because some things have to go below the generator (like the exhaust silencer, see Kashurst’s photos) and some things go overhead, like the separator
