Gearbox woes? Quick help needed!

once again have you definitely confirmed that the shaft is not turning in the coupling as that is exactly what would happen
tighen up the coupling bolts and check for missing drive pin and or locking screw
The coupling is not turning but the gear box output shaft is splined so that wont slip in the coupling. !

Does pushing in the 'neutral' pin in the centre of the throttle lever make any difference? It could be the the mechanism is actually jammed in neutral.

The shaft is not turning in the coupling, the lever is moving fully and defo not jammed in neutral as you can see the lever moving. Sadly I’ve cancelled the launch and now the boat will sit there until next summer as I’ve run out of time with tides etc to be worth putting it in. I’ve a good mind to just cut my losses and sell the damn thing! None of this was picked up by surveyors/engineers/agents which is the sad thing about buying a boat…. It’s a complete lottery often despite paying people to find the issues for you.

You (or someone) still need to pop the end of the morse cable off the selector lever on the gearbox and have a proper look. They can move a considerable distance (on our Hurth box maybe 30 degrees) before fully engaging/disengaging and the cable must be eliminated as a factor anyway.

Having a go at removing it is also good practice in case a cable malfunctions at sea and someone needs to manually engage/disengage gear.
