Anyone know a good place to get these? And how do you describe what you want, they all have streams of serial numbers ......

aren't the serial numbers related to the specification ? If you have two adjacent ones, you should be able to tell which are the serial numbers and which the model number.

That's the way gas struts on chairs work. I've just checked on the office ones.

This is topical, as the lazerette one has just failed. Here in the chandlery in La Foret, France they had some..oddly by the UK company in Bedford that originally supplied this boat...unfortunately, though, not the right one!

I have used a company in Derby and have been very pleased with their products - I don't know whether they are any better / worse than the company recommended above but they have a lot of useful information on their website to help you select the right product:

I used these guys also when I had to replace my engine hatch struts. The ones fitted were not original and were mis-matched, so I had to start from scratch.

You can just measure the strut length and end fitting type/diameter, then buy an adjustable strut that you vent down to the required level of assistance.
