Gas pipe replacement

Nora question of tooth sucking
with gas you just cannot afford to get it wrong.

I can just imagine the different tune you'd be playing if someone came alongside you with a dodgy DIY gas system and blew you and your Benny up.

IIRC the guide on the Thompson website use to be on the Southampton Calor Website

Now how about the details of the pressure tests for anyone who really wants to do the job properly.
As I said, google is your friend, however how far does one go? I worked offshore on a production platform, 5000 psi with enough H2S in it to knock a man down in two breaths! I NEVER used a manometer to test anything when I took anything apart and put it together. We never ever used a manometer offshore to test anything anywhere! So why use one on my boat? The atitude on here sometimes IS toothsucking, its like the guy that thinks he is a sage sitting in the corner, suck suck, health and safety dont you know! And then thinks he is very wise!
How far do we go? Petrol can in the locker, suck suck, h and s, do a pressure test on it? Manometer to do a pressure drop test? Ive got some acetone in a nail varnish removal plastic bottle, pressure test? Diesel tank, might leak, h & s, wow do a pressure test?
Come on Vic new years resolution? Its two years now!

You can claim as many misdemeanours and unsafe working practices for yourself as you like, They have little relevance other than to demonstrate what prat you can be at times.

A registered gas fitter installing an LPG system on a boat would be expected to carry out two pressure tests (at least he was in the days of Corgi registration).
You are suggesting that anyone can install their own system so if it is to be installed and tested to the same standards as we should expect from a registered fitter they should at least know the details of these tests.

So go ahead, just to please me, tell these people what these tests are and how to do them. It's not rocket science .

My interest in ensuring that DIY gas systems are correctly installed and tested to the same standards as those installed by a registered gas fitter and to avoid incidents like Single describes above.

Oh dear me! You know, as we men get older we get pedantic and cranky! Guess what?
Tell me, do you partake of a tincture when you are on here in the evening?

no misdemeanours,
No unsafe working practices, I said we didn't use a manometer!

Not a prat!

Didn't talk about installing an LPG system, talked about doing repairs and olive fitting!

So you are the police man here to make sure the forum only has posts that are according to the world of VicS?
