Gas in Faro

Started from Holyhead last year with 2 4.5 kg Calor and one Camping Gaz. Used 1 Calor on the way down, am now on the Camping Gaz with the idea that when that is empty I can use the last Calor which will give me time to find a refill for the Camping Gaz OR should I bite the bullet and buy a local gas? If so which one? OR does anyone coming home want to swap local for Calor?

Hi Stu,
No probs getting Camping Gaz in Faro, around 16 euro and can be changed in Spain. Gib, Morocco, etc. Some do manage to get Calor bottles refilled but more likely to have supply problems if moving around. Local gas bottles available but doubt if they can be changed out of country. Best ask around the yard when you're back.

Got a sewing machine in one suitcase! Few small repairs to the conservatory, Sails on, antifoul, ready for Easter. Wots weather like?

Hi Stu,
Some years ago I used to get gas bottles re-filled in Bom João near the railway crossing on the road to the commercial dock.

Ta for that, have got a couple of left hand thread connectors and some gas pipe so could go that route.

I know it was a few years ago, (2006-2009), but I always managed to find Camping Gaz refills along the Atlantic Coast, The Algarve, and the Med via Balearics to Malta. Sometimes took a bit of searching, so I always started the search when 1 bottle was empty.
 
Just had another thought. There are numerous petrol filling stations that supply gas for cars - is it the same gas and is it possible to fill bottles ?
