garmin software

Hi, have got a garmin 2010c plotter which has been excellent but have hit a snag! Have bought a new chart EU706L G2 for the UK & Ireland but the unit will not recognise it. Is there any way of updating my unit (short of buying a new head) to accept these charts??

You'll need to check the Garmin website or call/email them. They have just withdrawn the original bluecharts so I can't update the charts for my 172C either. I am not happy. The last original bluecharts were issued mid last year as confirmed by garmin by email. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

If you click on the 'download' it shows the details for the software updates. Can't immediately find what you are looking for, but have just quickly skimmed through it.

G2 charts will not work in some older units. I just checked with Garmin this week and I can only get 2008 charts for my 176c. I did actually buy a new 276c which takes G2 charts. Not happy about it but they are a good unit.

If anyone wants a 176c and is prepared to use 2008 charts, they can have it for a knockdown price!!

Call the garmin Help Desk. They will send you a 2010 S/W update chip in only a few days

I have the same plotter and was wondering how to update it. Do these update chips cost any muney ?
