Need some help please.

I've got a Garmin Streetpilot 2610 For my Business, i've downloaded all the Maps from the Mapsourse onto it and it works great.

I've also got a Garmin GPSMAP 76, for myself, It will take region downloads from the Mapsourse CD. So this morning i've been trying to download the maps, but its asking for a different Unlock Code. So although all the Maps have already been downloaded onto my PC, I can view them, update the 2610, but if i plug in a different GPS, is automatically shout for a new unlock code.

Is there anyway round this, and does this mean i need to Pay Garmin for another one, when i already own the CD???/forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

Help and Information on the GPSMAP 76 would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Alistair.

I have the gpsmap76, downloaded the marine charts from the Bluechart CD OK. But I did download all the software updates from the Garmin website first(surprising how many!) I understood you can download to another GPS unit in your possesion without another unlock code - or thats how I read it - but I've never done it.
One thought, have you registered the garmin gps76 on the garmin website? I did - maybe thats how they know how many gps's you have!

Alistair,

You need to register the other GPS Unit using Garmins unlock process and you will be issued another unlock code. They will allow two GPS units to use the same maps. After that you need a new license($).

Thanks Dick and amf.

What a long drawn out process that is....... Had too register all 3 items, seriel no.s the lot.
After 9 e-mails from Garmin, got the new unlock code, so i downloaded 2 regions onto the GPSMAP 76, only to find out it hadn't unlocked at all. So had to redo it all again, 2nd time worked ok.
Its amazing it now has a wealth of information on it, postcode for addresses, down to telling me where my favorite Italian restaurant is./forums/images/icons/cool.gif

Dick, how good do you find the Marine Bluechart on it, Hope you don't mind me asking where did you get it and how much??
Also what Software upgrades did you have to do, i thought the current version is 3.80?

Many thanks for the help from both of you.

Cheers, Alistair..

There is version 3.81 in BETA. <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.garmin.com/support/download.jsp>look here</A>.

I have the bluecharts for use with my 176C and consider them useful particularly for pre-planning on a computer at home using the included MapSource software. Routes, tracks, maps & waypoints can all be transferred both ways so also useful for analysing where you've been, e.g. if you have navigated a narrow inlet you can store the track, convert it into a route for future use, e.g. at night. It is also possible to organise your information on a computer e.g waypoints and tracks into files and folders.

You should have seen a demo at SIBS rather then drinking all that Guiness /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Thanks Jon,
What difference does the BETA make?
Like the warning though...

WARNING:
Although this software is believed to be reliable, it has not yet been released for production and should be used at your own risk.

And David and i did go and play with the units ob the Garmin stand, but i didn't get a demo of the Bluechart/forums/images/icons/crazy.gif.

According to Garmin web site 3.81 provides following fix.

'Fixed shutoff problem with certain European tides'.

Hardly worth upgrading for.

Next time you're down South I'll gladly give you a demo. With the flight prices you paid it will be cheaper than going to your local chandler!

Bluecharts have good detail
