Garmin buys Navionics

I use both...I do love Garmin support but in the end..I do prefer Navionics visually.
Navionics HD on mobile is truly a fantastic bargain...I love it.

I think this is good. Worst thing about Garmin imho is the actual charts, which are Garmin home-made things.

I must admit that i am not excited that they have done this, i do not like the Garmin charts and i hope that they did not buy Navionic so that they can starve it over time into submission .

I did like the fact that Navionics was an independent chart producer that worked hand in hand with almost all the major chartrplotter brands who all contributed thier own individual knowhows to optimise Navionics. Navionics has had more techno logic advancements that any other chart producer. Now that Garmin owns it, they many optimise it only for their own products .

If doubt that will happen but even if it does the solution is easy - buy Garmin plotters. You then having a winning combination of best hardware and best charts.

That's exactly how I read the news. Since the new app has stopped me reading MBY, Navionics is the best thing on my iPad!
