Can you fit the transducer that comes with the FF 140 inside the hull rather than mounting it on the transom! Its a strange shape! Has anybody been here before!!
Yes and yes you can, provided you have an ordinary GRP (non sandwich construction) hull. Best to use a hard glue like araldite (except you cant shift it later). Make sure you use an area away from bilge keels, skegs etc, and preferably an area of minimal turbulence (not just behind the keel for example).
Some say the sensitivity is reduced, but that has not been my experience.
Mine is internal and works fine. I first found a good place using walpaper paste as a coupling fluid (it is thick and gloopy so does not run away, yet is easily cleaned off.) Then I cleaned and dried the site and used silicon sealant to stick it down. Just make sure you put down a continuous bead without air bubbles and "roll" the sensor onto it. To lay the bead, I used the cartridge without the nozzle.
