Tricky to find a pair of induction hobs that will sit in the 450mm width of the previous gas cooker. The Vango is 420mm so easy enough to fit and gimbal for use at sea. The original 1500w single induction hob lives underneath as a spare.
i fitted two split 3mm stainless sheet tops that are hinged on the back pan rack, lift up when cooking on either burner and then just sit down to use the top for others stuff, looks neat and tidy and now perfect for sitting hob on and still gimballed

I would interested to hear if the stainless steel plates get hot after you have used the Vango for a while.

Nice install and easy to keep clean (y)

I added a small counter weight the equivalent to a cup full of water to my base. This causes the Vango to slope slightly towards you without a pan. larger pans can therefore be moved towards the back a bit which makes accessing the Vango controls easier. The Vango can also be used in the cockpit if you want, say cooking bacon on Sunday morning whilst rafted up to lots of other yachts :giggle:

Found a 750w Breville panini thing at home, so that is now on the yacht too. Brilliant for making quick snacks whilst at sea.

I have fitted an EcoFlow Delta Max portable lithium power pack which has no issues running my 2000w induction cooktop. It basically allows me to have the equivilent of a shore power connection whilst out remote cruising on my large trailer sailer.
Being a portable device it doesn’t effect my insurance and is removed to both my slide on truck camper and home for other uses as well. This helped justify their rather expensive cost! 🙂

A neat solution but an expensive one. If I'm looking at the right unit that's 168Ah at 12v... around five times the cost per Ah of a DIY battery. But of course there's a lot of other stuff in the box, like the inverter.
