I need to replace the tops on my galley. The sink is inset with a large lip and there is a fiddle rail edge that traps water. Whilst the coolbox/fridge is designed to act as a drain for any spillages...

I wonder has any one used an epoxy coating on a plywood base to create a one piece top

It strikes me that I could make a top with a marine ply base with the sink slung underneath and a step up to the hatch above the coolbox/fridge ..with fiddle rails allround and nicely rounded easy to clean junctions between the horizontal and vertical parts.

I thought about Corian or the like but I think the plywood/epoxy might be easier....

Any thoughts

Epoxy coating on plywood tops has been done by a few YouTubers over the last year, currently been done by expedition evans, would be worth a look,

Thanks for that but I found it a very incoherent video mostly showing tools and little or no info on how to do it....

The one linked to by Daverw is excellent and much more informative.

I wonder is there a reason for these 1980 marble like effects? (Such as concealing defects? ) Or will a plain off white top look ok...

They are showing the actual coating on the next video, this one was the prep

I’m also looking to replace our galley tops with Corian but can find a supplier other than kitchen installers who aren’t interested in supplying smaller cuts.
Where are you based?

I have just ordered new solid worktops for my 26 footer (so not much worktop)
