Galeon 325 HTO

The new 64 ... rides beautifully unlike some recent launches from established builders which look as if the boat is pointing to the moon.

[/ QUOTE ]Sorry Trev, I just had a look at that clip and I must disagree with you on that.
Mind, I was the first to criticize the bow up attitude shown by the Sq55 in MBY video, if that's one of the recent lauches you had in mind.
But the G640 shown in the video is very far from what I'd call a "beautiful ride", either - at least for a P boat.
Her behaviour actually reminds me of some SD hulls at their max speed, where half of the engines power is used to move the boat and the other half to dig a big hole in the water.
Probably she was heavily trimmed to show a flatter ride (helped also by a downhill camera horizon...), but a proper combination of hull design and weight distribution shouldn't need these tricks to ride almost flat, with enough lift and a wet surface starting at one third of the boat instead of under the anchor...

the 640 rides ok
it is not as good as a Camuffo or some custom perfect balanced Sport Fish boat
but for a production boat its not bad
IMO I prefare this to a high ride of other boats, altough this would be a wetter one for sure, but less bumpy

to look for a perfect riding mainstream built I think you have to get an old Bertram 54 or the mids 90s produced Azimut 54 AZ later renamed 58 Full with slight bigger crew cabin and extended platform that rode pretty well, may be I would vote her an 8/10....

You could be right M, didn't notice the camera angle although she seems to pull simialr performance to others of the same length / weight with similar HP. On reflection perhaps 4 degrees bow up might be nearer the mark but still a lot less than some of the new launches. I was out not long ago in the Solent and watched a new FB around 50' come towards me, holy cow! it must have had 15 degrees of bow up trim, absolutely no way could anyone sat below see anywhere in front of them. And it wasn't the skipper not knowning what he was doing I recognised him as they went past and he does lots of delivery stuff and good skipper, bet he was cursing he had to sit up top in the freezing cold to see in congested waters .
