Hi,

I have a Garmin GPS180 with a solent "offshore" cartridge. I believe this to be the G-Map range? Does anyone know where I can get these cartridge, what the limitations of my particular one are.? I also want to find out if you can link in to some PC software to allow updates and route planning.

Any Ideas?

Nick

Hi,

We have the same system.

I think it's called a c-map cartdidge but may be wrong..it's about 1cm x 2 1/2 cm and about 4mm think (sorry about the metric).

I'll check what's it's actually called when i get home if it's important.

The one I have covers from Portsmouth right down to Torquay in great detail (even puts the boat ont he right side of the mooring pontoon).

I bough it in one of the London Chandlers, which are now defunct, but an Garmin Supplier worth their salt should be able to get any upgrade you require.

If it a C-Map then you can find all the cartridges listed on the web site. Includes list of all charts covered on a cartridge and there is a list of dealers who can sell you a new one or even trade your existing cartridge.

Nick,
The 180 uses G-Charts (specifically micro G-Chart format) not C-Map.
These are Garmin specific charts on their own cartridges which are basically the Navionics mapping.

Whilst nearly all the products that use these are now discontinued you should be able to source any chart you require from Garmin stockists.

You could try
Marine Electronic Services Ltd

where I have purchased them before.
If you want charts of the North Sea, Baltic, Holland and Germany then I may have them for an appropriate consideration.
Regarding route planning and waypoints as you will not be able to view the chart on your PC you are better off using a 'point and save' method on the unit itself.

Hope this helps
