Sorry for all the recent questions, but this should be a quick'un.
I noticed today the hose on our fuel vent (petrol) is straight up from the tank to the vent itself with no riser of any kind. I just assumed there'd be a riser or something, by way of a loop in the vent hose.
The vent points down and aft, but is on the side of the boat, and I am certain it'll pick up some spray when I get a bit too 'enthusiastic' at the helm. With this in mind, is there any good reason I should not create a 300mm (or more/less?) high loop in the vent hose to reduce the chance of taking water into the fuel tank? I was thinking about changing the hoses while I'm changing the tank anyway, as they're still the originals and I wouldn't be surprised if they are likely to fail soon - being petrol I'd rather take chances!
In case its important, the vent is about 100mm above the fuel filler at present, and about 500mm above the top of the fuel tank.
