Fuel tank leak

Next boat always start viewings in the ER first ……..after looking at the hull shape :)
Get a feel for the gen build integrity.
So what you mean is that Bouba should have bought an Itama?

Read through thread with interest. Would just add as it does not seemed to be mentioned the possibility that the tank is sat on a foreign object that has worked its way through.
I have seen this previously on a Aluminium tank, Fortunately it was on a Fairline Targa sterndrive so very easy replacement.
The engine of bouba's boat should come out without too much of a problem with the correct equipment,

Nope otherwise I would have said that .
The :) Was a humorous nod aimed at self deprecating re hull form .
Sorry it went whoosh Pete ,Always difficult to pitch it on hear . Emoji was @ me .

The ER and gen integrity comment stands ,

I once opened a bathroom cabinet on a boat , a boat with a squeaky floor mind as you walked through the saloon to the heads .
Inside a nice illumination as you do theses days inside boat bathroom cabinets ,
But with no lining / back panel wood - you saw the bare inside of the hull .Worse still two wires dangling to the light / microswitch.
Not even conduit , just a black assume - ve and a a red assume + ve wire hanging there in plane sight loose .Urgh!

As for liners / or grids again delimitation and you never really know what’s going on under , between the two layers .
Just adds more mystery and clouds diagnosing, as Bouba has discovered.

What exactly had your post # 121 , the crying baby image of presume yourself brought to the table in helping the guy ?
I have given I hope quite a bit of diagnostic advice and gen background thus far .

Boubas doing a great thread in a school room “tell and show “ kinda way .
Evey ones trying to help and if there’s any learning experiences in more “tell and show “ along the journey so be it .
In a might benefit others kinda way .

FORUM s work like that ,

If it turns out to be the tank leaking perhaps its possible to cut an opening in the tank, then weld/seal the leak and weld the opening back on.

With everyone having a stab at it I'm thinking Bouba should be opening bets. Make himself a little on the side to toast his joy or drown his sorrows when all gets revealed.

I'll put a tenner it's a return feed issue. Gimme the odds!

3:1 ! Awesome. I'll take those odds. Sign me up for a tenner whoever is accepting those odds. Intake sucks, return blows. This is a pressure leak given capacities involved

Bouba, I wouldn't panic yet. I think it's pretty unlikely a relatively new tank like this would leak. And even if it does, I'm sure the professionals will find a way of extracting the tank or repairing it without demolishing the boat.

Have you asked someone else to take a look at it? A fresh pair of eyes and all that...
Yes, today we went (I was dragged) to the Beneteau dealer and left our details and are awaiting a return call. However, the Paris Boat Show is nearly here and this dealership does all the big shows and it’s a all hands on deck situation. So I’m not expecting an instant response. But I’m prepared to be surprised

Don't hold your breath you are going to have to go / remind them in the new year.

I haven’t been to the boat today, it was all a bit windy and tomorrow is rain
I’m thinking of putting some money down when you have sorted out all the runners and riders. At the moment my money is on Vas

It's brought about as much help to this thread as your picture of an Itama.
Rubbish , he queried the anode bolt / catholic protection perforating ?
They don‘t ( if its got one ? ) ….so strike that off .
He thinks he hasn’t seen one , now he knows what to look for .= help full ++++ of the pic .

Have only got pics in details of mobos I have owned .

fingers crossed if it is the tank, the hole is on a flat surface so could be repaired in situ with a bolt on patch of some sort.

There’s a little wiggle room, if some small flexible strong mechanics could undo the mounts and lean it forward a bit. But I don’t think there’s room to get tools behind or underneath without major surgery

I had been thinking to ask (but from a position of little/no relevant experience!) if it would be possible to tilt the tank in-situ sufficiently to view the other surfaces? Potentially that might reveal pin-hole or other damage - without the pain of removing engine + tank.

This is the corroded weld inside the aluminium fuel tank at 6 years old caused by water and fuel bug, the tanks were replaced with stainless to the same pattern.
