Can anyone tell me where the fuel prices are reasonable south of Brest.

We got fuel from a town station in Ormonville at .86 euro and then pulled up at the marina in brest where they were selling the same fuel oil at 1.22. Bit of a rip off.

thanks

Fuel costs at marinas or similar are frequently higher than a road service station I notice.

In the Canal du Midi the fuel from 'hire boat' bases is up to 35% more expensive than road service station!!!! It is a choice between convenience or struggling quite long distances with fuel jugs between the boat and fuel station under the hot sun (or rain as it is at the moment!!)

Re: Fuel prices in France

You'll find that fuel prices in France are highly variable - the only constant is that the supermarché filling stations are cheapest (about 65% of filling stations) and have been for the last 25 years.
That's probably the reason that 68% of road-vehicle fuel sales, in France are through supermarchés.

My suspicion is that Omonville was the local supermarché station, current filling station prices are about €1 upwards.

In any case they're cheaper than Italy (or the UK).

Re: Fuel prices in France

Thanks. I couldnt find fuel oil at the supermarket station in Ormonville. They had Gazoil but not Fuel Oil (the red stuff). The .86 euros was through the little independant service station.

I\'m afraid

you've broken French law (unless you're a registered professional fisherman).

With the exception of Belgium, UK and Ireland, yachties have to pay full duty on fuel for boats.

The red stuff is only for the use of the fishing fleet, surprised you were served.

Re: I\'m afraid

If you paid with your card the impots and customs will soon know!! When buying parrafin same red diesel always pay cash! 20 liters should be ok as it could be thought of as heating fule but a lot more???
