I'm thinking of buying a fuel flow indicator ( probably the Plastimo model ).

But before I do, I would like to know if they are any benefit or simply tell you what you already know or just something else to worry about.

Fitted one last year. Excellent bit of kit. I have Navman chartplotter etc so navman fuel flow meter cost me £65 and I fitted it in an hour. Certainly saved the outlay cost already.

I do now cruise as slightly lower rev's than previously, but only by 1knot and that makes a difference of 2 litres and hour...

are you diesel of petrol powered, if diesel you may need one in the fuel return line to measure whats flowed though the first flowmeter and passed back to tank.

And make sure that the flow rates through the feed and return lines are compatible with the two senders as there is a minimum flow required in the return line sender.
