You either keep the fruit in the fridge, dose with milton, stow it outside in the shade under a fruit/meat safe, (muslin cover) or scoff it rapidly!

Piece of fruit in a bowl along with some balsamic vinegar or sherry. Cling film over the top of the bowl, make a few holes in the cling film for the blighters to get in and position near the fruit. They get in but can't get out, it's very pleasing.
