Ok, let’s move the goalposts a bit.

How about me lending my boat in Brittany for a week to a mate who has a boat in San Tropez . In exchange I borrow his boat for a week. Strictly no cash changes hands at any stage.

As long as the insurance is OK with it, I don't see why not. It's basically that you're lending each other your boat, and as you're friends, that should be fine. It only falls over if there's a commercial aspect to the deal (commercial meaning paying more than the immediate running costs).

Or maybe if some mishap; prop-wrap for instance. So long as completely fixed within loan/swap period?
