Discovered our fridge wasn't working recently. Investigated and found that the fan had come loose on its shaft and wasn't rotating. Fixed this, but despite the compressor and fan both running the condensor wasn't getting cold and wondered if we'd 'boiled' the refrigerant.

So along comes a man who could recharge it. In my absence, he fitted a new control box but said that he couldn't recharge it because it was the old style refrigerant.

Tried to charge me 170 quid, and the fridge still wasn't working!

I removed the new control box and sent it back to him with a payment of 50 quid and a note to say there was nothing wrong with the old one. Cowboy.

The saga continues. I bought a new compressor and condensor and after much fiddling managed to fit the condensor, but the pipework is 3 feet too short to reach the dedicated space for the compressor. Now waiting to hear if they can supply an extension pipe...

Forward Thinking

I had cleverly anticipated the demise of our fridge and managed to drink her dry last weekend for the first time in memory. Funnily enough, we were moored alongside Asterie and her fine captain made a similar offer.

Re: Forward Thinking

needless to say - Asterie has a working fridge (oh I wish I hadn't said that) but somewhat empty after last weekends "our fridge is broken" raiding party -

No- bought the whole new shooting match from Pumpkin for £319 but may live to regret not going to isotherm in first place.

They bought it from over the road in the first place!! I waited three months for them to get me a new hot water tank - they only had to raise an order for one!

Go to the warehouse, get the bit you need, walk over and ask pumpkin to raise an order, walk back over with it.

Don't leave them to it!!

The bits came from penguin in southampton- waiting to hear back from them whether they can supply extension or have to rip it all out and start again.

There was something in the back of my head about the warehouse, I put it down to a fertile imagination and a weekend emptying your fridge.
