If i could calm down the noisy fridge a bit it would be christmas come early :) One shall persevere

You can struggle for ages with all sorts of approaches to quieten down the fridge. Or you could simply turn it off for the relatively short time you will be using the SSB.

I have the T shirt on this interference problem and have failed to crack it.

P.S. Just wait til you start top tyransmit and get a whole load of other issues like feedback.

Turning it off I'm very good at. One perfectly practised fluid zen movement, a thing of beauty to behold.

It's the turning it back on bit I struggle with sometimes :(

RF interference

What I know about things electric would struggle to fill the back of a fag packet, so forgive me if I am talking out of an orifice that should be reserved for solid cargo. But I had similar interference problems on my old Cobra VHF set, and reference in my fridge (Waeco) handbook referred to the need for the power supply wires to be twisted together.
Mine weren't, and as soon as I did so the interference stopped.
