If you are just off St Jean Capt Ferrat then you must be looking at Paloma Beach. From St Jean you can catch the No 81 bus to go to either Nice or Beaulieu Sur Mer (every bus runs through Beaulieu Sur Mer). The Casino (shop) in St Jean isn't too bad and there is a little market in the square in the marina every day. You can also go down and anchor off the Royal Riviera and then nip in to Beaulieu which has a bigger daily market.
If you want to go to the port just call on Ch9 and they will find room, thay always seem to. Now if you really want to have the best cocktails along that streach go to the Plague Beaulieu Sur Mer in the old Hotel Metropole in BSM. Take your wallet! If you want any other advice on that rejoin let me know.

I'd also recommend a trip to villa Ephrussi on the apex of the back of jean c f over looking Ville French . A spectacular villa built by one of the rothschilds thAt is open to the public with some of the best views and gardens in SoF and you can dine there cheaply by comparison with anything in VF.

The one on the top of the spine of St Jean is the Villa Rothschild. Not too bad, but you are in St Jean. It's going to hurt.

Just to assist on finding it and finding info, it's generally called Villa Ephrussi, as Wake up said, and strictly speaking it's called Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. It is beautiful, as Wakeup describes. Along the top of the "spine", the next two big ones southwards are private houses, the southern one (square/cube looking, with a little tower on one corner) being Villa Maryland, Paul Allen's shack
Anchoring off Antibes makes good sense for a supplies run, and actually you'd get a cheap berth in the port during the day or even overnight. But unless you get a berth in the old port, or a south side berth in the "new" port (= say quais 1-7), you'll find it quite a long walk from shops to boat. You don't want a berth on the west side close to the shipyard

Err sorry to be a pedant but it is the Villa Ephrussi (de Rothschild) and you can get a very nice salad or plat du jour for €12. I have a base in SoF for the last 10 years and regularly visit the place.

If you want to see a really strange villa that is open to the public, go and see the Kyrios Villa which was built by the husband of the owner of the Villa Euphrissi. I believe he was part of the JP Morgan family. He had a replica of an Ancient Greek villa and all it contents and furniture built on the coast in VF and apparel would dress and live like and Ancient Greek whilst living there. Weird as hell.

Thanks for the suggestions on the villas. They sound interesting, will see if we can visit them on the way back from Monaco next week. Today we're off to Antibes to hide from the strong westerlies blowing up tomorrow. That and supplies, of course!
Enjoying Riviera radio. It's like being at home with all the Queen's English accents! Music last night was full on cheese fest, great stuff. I don't think the adverts are quite aimed at us, though.

Cardo, I was just in the Carrefour Market in the middle of Antibes. They have four varieties of Twinings Earl Grey, so your swmbo should be all set. Are you anchoring off, or coming into the port?

We've anchored just south of the port for now. Trying to decide what to do. Mrs would like to go out for dinner, but not entirely sure where we'd land the dinghy that isn't miles away from the town.
We're vaguely contemplating popping into the marina tomorrow to hide from the weather and make life easier for going out for dinner. Decisions, decisions!

A very kind offer, though the issue is our dinghy isn't particularly meaty so getting all the way round and into the marina would take a while, by which point we'd probably be soaked from all the wake!
Turns out Lady who Lunches has just received some work, so plan is now to pop into the marina tomorrow so she can get it done without worrying about power. That'll also pay for our stay, which is always a bonus! If you're still around, would be nice to meet up for a drink.

Well we're now tucked into Antibes. Blowy day today, so feel more comfortable being tied up nice and safe. However, looks like we were lucky to get a berth, as a 15m (ok, bit bigger than us!) boat came in just after us and they were rather dryly told there was no berth for them. The skipper clearly wanted to discuss it, but the port chap wasn't interested. The French clearly don't bother with all the pleasantries that your average Brit would! I'd be curious to know how they got on, as I'm pretty sure they ended up tying up to the arrivals pontoon next to us. They were obviously keen to get a berth!

No mention of marina Baie des Anges, which I find will mostly accomodate mobos and raggies, usually if you stop at the fuel berth and wait for lunch break to finish!Much politeness is appreciated, and there is a lady of Scottish extraction in the boatyard Chandlers.
Remember Lunchtime is sacred.Dog leg approach, there might be dredging in progress.beach Club with pool, Vast hypermarket, nearest is exit the marina to the right hand side.
lots of berthside restaurants, which will appear good value to those possessed of notes payable on demand in Threadneedle Street!
I don't know what you all feel about the berth booking system, but at 11M by 3.77 I just turn up.

We have never booked when I had a 12x 3.55 -9 out of 10 times found a place .
Recently with a 14.5 x 4.2 M also been accomodation -knack is turn up arround 4 pm .
There are folks out where I am La Napoule maybe 3-4 empty 15 M births -and only say 2 get a visited
With a guest per night ,

W or E wind ,so one can just set off with no pre-arranged plan .

Bit of a long shot, but I don't suppose anyone knows of a Beta dealer around here somewhere? The little green bulb on the panel blew a few weeks back and I've been keeping an eye out for a replacement, but to no avail. The Beta website doesn't show any around this area, but you never know...
