As usual, the boat gods decide to throw spanners in the works! Two days into our guest's visit the lovely wife manages to break off the loo pump handle! To be fair, not entirely her fault... So we're now restricted to marina hops until I get it fixed.
However, it does mean we've had the chance to visit a few different marinas around the area. There are some real gems around here. Antibes was very nice, and a reasonable €30ish for a night. Nice, whilst smaller and not quite so shiny, was also about €30 and a convenient spot for sight seeing. Fontvieille on Monaco I was really not impressed with. No facilities in the marina (no good when the loo's broken!), only public services nearby. The main block with showers had the men's side locked and out of use. The alternative is pay for self washing style loos, which are pretty grim. Paid €62 for the pleasure of staying a night there!
From there we tried to get into St. Jean Cap Ferrat, but they didn't have any berths available for our size, so they suggested Beaulieu. Have to say I'm glad it worked that way! Beaulieu found us a spot (squished between two mobos!) no problem, staff are extremely friendly, marina has a good selection of restaurants and shops with a beach just over the way.... and all for the grand price of €21 a night. We've decided to stay here a couple of days whilst one of the shops has ordered some parts so I can fix the loo.
Off to visit the Rothschild villa today!
