Calling all forum French linguists and nationals, for some help please:
After a day at the RM yard yesterday, I have been invited aboard an owner’s boat tomorrow. Said owner will be in attendance, tidying up after his return from the Acores.
I would like to take the opportunity to quiz him comprehensively about wind angles, speeds, when he takes first and second reefs etc. Neither Google translate, nor my Franglais are up to the task.
Anyone know the French for:
True / Apparent wind angle
Close hauled
Reach
Broad Reach
I have an idea that reefing is “ris les voiles,” but confirmation would be welcome!
PS If of interest, pix from yard tour here
