Re: Cannes Beach, Plage Royal

This restaurant has a blue and white striped umbrellas/mattresses and is the second-most western resaturant on the beach. Good thing bout cannes is you can keep an eye on the boat. In the season they have a pontoon out to sea which they are ok about you using to land a dinghy and even have a plagiste to help on and off.

The menu is massive, almost unbelievably so. Fab salads are enourmous. Out of season the place is open, and populated by lots of french people when others are empty or shut, a good sign, and the same staff work there year in year out. Nice and airy, not enclosed.

Re: Hotel Beauvallon, Ste Maxime

This is a large chateau-looking building, ornage/umber coloured, facing south, just west of ste Maxime, in the gulfe of st tropez. It is a fabuylous place. You can anchor off and buzz in on a dinghy. The lucnhtime restaurant is a large wooden complex right on the water's edge. There's a pool you/kids can use just behind this. Food not megaexpensive and includes intresting ideas like hamburger with foie gras, 20euros. It is worth a walk up to the hotel, through the little tunnel under the road and up to the main building, fab view of the whole bay. If i was getting married again i wd have a honeymoon here. In fact, i am considering getting divorced and then make up so we can do just that.
